You can find the official site for Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitor Bureau at www.daytonabeach.com.  This site includes information about the area, where to dine, a calendar of events, activities, sports, attractions and tours etc.  It also list available places to stay, however, I hope you will choose our place to stay.

Listed below are just a few sights to visit:

Located on central Florida's Atlantic coast, Daytona Beach has 23 miles of beach. There are many special events that take place in Daytona throughout the year.  To name a few, Spring Break in March where hordes of college students blanket the beach, NASCAR enthusiasts arrive by the tens of thousands to watch the Daytona 500 in February and the Pepsi 400 in July.

There are many Race Parks and Speedways in and near Daytona.  The above website will give you a list of them.  The Daytona USA, is a 60,000-square-foot site dedicated to auto racing. You can change a tire in a timed pit stop, broadcast a famous race finish, climb into the driver's seat in a race-car simulator, and experience the gut-wrenching thrills of high-speed laps at NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience.

Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse - the tallest lighthouse in Florida and the second tallest in the nation. It is the best preserved lighthouse and is located 12 miles south of Daytona Beach.  It is open to the public year round.  If you climb the 175 foot lighthouse you are able to view the magnificent Florida coastline and Halifax River.  Check out exhibits on Fresnel lenses, Florida shipwrecks, and what life was like for lighthouse keepers and their families in this 1887 coastal tower.

Daytona's Marine Science Center has a wooden "birdwalk" that takes you through its Seabird Rehabilitation Sanctuary. The center also has a 5,000-gallon artificial reef aquarium, Sea turtle and bird rehabilitation center, fascinating exhibits with nature trails.  They have programs on "All about Mosquitoes" and "Indian River Lagoon".  For more wildlife-watching opportunities, keep an eye out for dolphins on the two-hour narrated trip up the Halifax River on A Tiny Cruise Line, a replica of an 1890 excursion boat.

At the Museum of Arts and Sciences, there is an entire village to tour, the Old St. Augustine Village.  The museum has a variety of exhibits, a planetarium with laser shows, children's museum and a nature preserve. There was a 130,000-year-old skeleton, found near the museum in 1974, is considered one of the finest specimens of its kind in North America. You can also check out the museum's Kid's Adventure program which offers learning activities centered around major exhibits on display at the museum.

NASA's Kennedy Space Center is 45 minutes from Daytona Beach. As part of the Astronaut Adventure room, you can experience an interactive space-flight simulator and a G-force trainer that lets you feel the pressure of four times the force of gravity. In the Rocket Garden, climb aboard Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo capsules for a look at astronauts' cramped intergalactic living quarters. You can also learn about space firsthand by lunching with an astronaut.
